About Pachli
Pachli is an Android app for reading and posting on Mastodon, and version 3.8.1 can be downloaded here as an APK. It is a third-party client, developed by the Pachli project rather than by Mastodon gGmbH, and it works with your existing account on a Mastodon server. Pachli focuses on people who spend a lot of time on the fediverse and want more control than the official app gives.

What you get
- several accounts on different servers, switched from the side menu;
- tabs for home, notifications, local and federated feeds, lists and hashtags;
- content filters and hiding of boosts or replies;
- drafts and scheduled posts where the server supports them.
Like every Mastodon client, it relies on your server: what you can do depends on the server software and its settings, and posts load from there. The app does not create accounts for you; if you are new, sign up on a server first — the Mastodon page on this site explains how to choose one, and the official directory is linked from its Open button.
Installation
The APK here is the release published by the Pachli developers on GitHub. Its signature was checked against the key used for earlier Pachli releases, and the file passed a malware scan. You can also install it from Google Play. Install one build only: versions from different sources may be signed with different keys.
Instead of the official app
Pachli is an alternative to the official Mastodon app for people who want several accounts, finer filters and more timeline options. For those leaving X (Twitter), Threads or Facebook, it is one of the ways to follow the fediverse from a phone.
Requirements
An Android device with a current system version and an account on a Mastodon-compatible server.
Safety and privacy
Pachli signs in through your server's standard login page, so the app never sees your password; it keeps an access token on the device. Your posts and direct messages are stored on your server as usual and are not end-to-end encrypted. If you stop using the app, revoke its access in your account settings on the server.
Who it suits
Pachli is for people who already know their way around Mastodon: those who follow many lists and hashtags, manage more than one account, or want to hide certain content types. Newcomers may find the official app simpler to start with and switch later — the account stays the same, since it lives on the server, not in the app.
Pros and cons
- Pro: multi-account support and detailed filters.
- Pro: free, open source, no tracking or ads.
- Con: more settings than a newcomer needs.
- Con: some features depend on what your server supports.
